Frequently asked questions

What is Sensibly Sprouted?

Sensibly Sprouted is a nutrition counseling practice dedicated to making healthy eating feel simpler, more personal, and achievable. Our team of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) provides compassionate, evidence-based guidance tailored to your unique health needs, lifestyle, and goals. We offer in-person appointments in Bellingham, Smokey Point, and Seattle, along with convenient telehealth appointments throughout Washington State.

Getting started is simple! After you reach out, our team helps verify your insurance benefits and matches you with a dietitian who best fits your needs. During your first appointment, your dietitian takes time to understand your health history, daily routines, challenges, and goals. Together, you'll develop a personalized nutrition plan that feels realistic and sustainable. Follow-up sessions provide ongoing support, accountability, and practical strategies to help you build lasting habits and make meaningful progress.

Between appointments, you can stay connected through our secure patient portal, where you can communicate with your care team and access helpful resources. We also take the guesswork out of insurance by helping verify your benefits and managing the billing process. Most of our patients pay $0 out of pocket, depending on their insurance coverage, making personalized nutrition care more accessible.

At Sensibly Sprouted, we're here to help you feel supported, confident, and empowered to make changes that last.

What states can you see patients in?

Sensibly Sprouted offers personalized nutrition counseling throughout Washington State! We provide convenient telehealth appointments statewide, along with in-person visits at our Bellingham, Smokey Point, and Seattle locations. Our goal is to make expert nutrition care accessible, flexible, and easy to fit into your life.

How long after being referred will a patient see the RD?

We make getting started as simple and timely as possible! Our team typically reaches out within 1–2 business days to review insurance benefits, understand the patient's needs, and connect them with a Registered Dietitian who is a great fit. Appointment availability varies, but we work to schedule patients as soon as possible, with telehealth often offering the most flexibility.

What types of conditions do you treat?

Our team of Registered Dietitians provides personalized, evidence-based nutrition counseling for a wide range of health conditions and wellness goals. How do you coordinate care with referring providers?

We believe the best patient care happens when healthcare providers work together! At Sensibly Sprouted, we prioritize clear, consistent communication with our referring providers to ensure patients receive coordinated, personalized support.

Through our closed-loop referral process, we keep providers informed as patients complete intake and progress through nutrition counseling. We share relevant appointment notes and care updates, as appropriate under patient privacy requirements, helping ensure nutrition recommendations complement the patient's overall treatment plan.

Our goal is to make collaboration seamless while providing patients with the consistent, compassionate care they deserve.

When should I refer a patient to Sensibly Sprouted?

Nutrition counseling can be a valuable part of a patient's care at many stages of their health journey. We encourage providers to consider a referral whenever personalized nutrition guidance could help patients better manage their health and feel more confident in their daily choices.

Common reasons to refer include:

  • A new diagnosis: When a patient could benefit from nutrition guidance to support their condition or treatment plan.
  • Challenges following a treatment plan: When a patient needs additional education, practical strategies, or support with nutrition-related recommendations.
  • Abnormal lab results: When laboratory findings indicate an opportunity for nutrition intervention.
  • Changes in food or fluid intake: When a patient experiences reduced appetite, difficulty eating, or significant changes in their usual intake.
  • Significant weight changes: When a patient experiences weight loss or gain of 5% or more within six months.

A patient doesn't need to have a diagnosed condition to benefit from nutrition counseling. Whether they're managing a health concern or simply looking to build healthier habits, our Registered Dietitians provide evidence-based, individualized support that meets them where they are.
